FROM MY SISTER'S WARDROBE

What happens when I wake up one day, rummage through my wardrobe, and discover I have nothing decent to throw on? To my sister's wardrobe I go!!! And I always manage to find awesome pieces to wear because we share a similar taste in clothes.

Our common pieces are usually jackets, blazers or cardigans thrown over loose tees. In these photos, I had on one of the cutest tees my sister has - coned ice cream all over! And the jacket I had on? Lovely cut and pattern! It was unfortunate that I could not get a good picture of my jacket from the back because it was black against my dark background.

My scarf looks crumpled in the photo above and that's because I didn't iron it. But then again, I don't iron my scarfs. Bahahahah! That's how lazy I am and I'm cool with it. Hee!

CONED ICE CREAM LOOSE TEE FROM H&M
STRETCH DARK BLUE PANTS FROM GAP
OWL BAG FROM SINGSALE.SG
SCHOOL SHOES FROM BATA
And if you think school shoes are only meant to be worn to school, you are so wrong! I had my school shoes on from Bata and I love them to bits. Of course they are not in perfect white anymore just because I have worn them so many times and I am not exactly careful with my white items all the time. Oh my, I am revealing more and more of my lazy-I-don't-care attitude. Haha!

So I had been harping on getting a Burton backpack from The Bag Creature for weeks and the husband took me there to get it. Like a kid in a candy store (as a friend of mine so aptly put it), I enjoyed my eye-candy moment. The bag I wanted was not available in the store and turned out that it was a good thing because the husband pointed out that the material for the Gravis bags was better than the Burton series I was eyeing.

OK! 'Nuff said! I bought a Gravis! WOOHOO!!!

The bulk of the morning was spent on deciding how to spend our Saturday. We thought about taking a walk at Changi Boardwalk but the sun was relentless. So it was a no-go. Lil' Muhamad was adamant about going HIPPO BUS-watching. It has been his favourite past time ever since he grew obsessed with the open-top bus. As a mother, on many occasions, I was tempted to take him on the bus just to make my sonny boy happy. But as usual, my husband reminds me that the reality is, the tour is much too expensive for locals. And AS USUAL, he is right.

In the end, we decided, HIPPO BUS-watching would be our plan for the day.

So we hopped into our car and landed ourselves at Coffee Bean Suntec City, where we had a cuppa and where Lil' Muhammad had his fill of marvelling at the open-top tour buses. I mean the café was strategically located right above the road where the buses travelled.

It was a relaxing morning I must say. The husband and I managed to have a good chit-chat session while Lil' Muhammad kept himself 'busy' (refer to picture below)... heh.

I absolutely loved my outfit today. Not because I was in H&M from head to toe. It was really because I was in size L for everything. ROOMY is the word! I am not one who like to have my clothes sticking to my body and look like I am all wrapped up like a tortilla with my fats sticking out in all the wrong places. Oh yes, I DO have fats, lots of dem fats! But it's ok.
Like I always say, MY IMPERFECTIONS PERFECT ME.

So I hope you enjoy the following photos and thereby realise...why I came up with
'Levitating' Saturday as the title of my blogpost today.

PSYCHEDELIC TURBAN STYLES

I have always been intrigued by how Erykah Badu wore her turban. I was much younger when I first started to listen to her songs. The first time I saw her on TV, I was like 'WHOUUU!!! That turban though!' That was way before I put on the head scarf. I love the ethnic feel to the style and how cool these African women look in their turbans and flare skirts with huge bangles jangling at their wrists as they sway to their African beats.

To be honest, my knowledge about turbans for women? ZERO!
In my latest tutorial, you will see two of the easiest turban styles I came up with (which I believe, many would have already done so before me...). But they are also the styles I would wear if I need a quick hijab do-up on a summer vacation.

HEAD AND NECK INNER FROM YUSZY COLLECTIONS
EARRINGS FROM H&M ACCESSORIES
LIP COLOUR AND EYE PENCIL FROM SEPHORA

All you need a maxi scarf which one can get very easily nowadays from hijab sellers online, a neck-covered inner and a straight hijab pin. THAT'S IT!

Before you watch the video, please do not expect to see me pull a 'Erykah Badu' Turban style. I will not do justice to her and many of our stylish and chic ethnic African ladies.

In simple words, I am inspired.

One Kimono, Two Scarves

I never feel the necessity to spend loads of money on my wardrobe because I employ my 'mix-n-match' skills to my outfits. So by putting together pieces I have from my closet, I usually find myself decent outfits for my days out. In this post, you will see that I have on the same outfit but matched with two different maxi hijabs on two different occasions. And they both look pretty ok...well, to me at least. The advantage of being one who wears the headscarf is that I get to change just my headscarf to turn my whole outfit into a whole new look. That makes it easy on my pocket! I wonder if any of you out there can relate to this?

Those of you who follow me on my Instagram would probably have seen me in this Kimono top before. That's ok 'cos I don't deliberately go on a shopping spree just to post pictures in my blog. What you see now and probably will be seeing in my upcoming posts will most definitely be me donning on existing pieces I have had for a long time in my closet. I love the idea of leveraging on what one has. 'Mix-n-Match', that's my motto! And I say it again...it goes easy on my pocket! Hahahaha!

So I leave you with the following pictures of an uber simple outfit I threw together with a Kimono top, a loose blouse and a pair of tapered jeans. The first few spot me in a rich green headscarf and the other cluster of photos, in a rich purple headscarf. I usually go easy on the scarves and settle for block colours so that they don't 'kill' my outfit...if you get what I mean.

Enjoy!

XOXO

The Launch of MuMoJa

Ok, excuse the cliché title. Initially I thought I wanted to start my personal style blog with a big bang...but I ain't never an ambitious individual. Simplicity is key for me most of the time. So...yes, I finally took that baby step to start a personal style blog.

Unlike many giant fashion and personal style bloggers, I am only a beginner and most probably will remain in that beginner's category for a very long time because I have zero discipline at updating my blog.

I am no fashion guru so this girl ain't given' yawl no fashion advices. It's really about sharing my style which equates simplicity in my case. I don't rock long flawy dresses and gowns that's for sure. So you will probably be seeing a lot of jeans and pants-outfits in my pictures. For those who are looking out for trendy styles, my blog is definitely not for you to be very frank. I am too lazy to keep up with fashion trends and most of time dress up in what's eye candy and comfy for me.

I leave you now with some pictures of my son and I. They were taken on an outing last weekend. One thing's for sure is that you will definitely see a lot of my son, Lil' Muhammad in most of my pictures because I strongly feel that he adds the 'CUTE' element to them. And of course, my husband is my photographer and he always does an awesome job at capturing the right moments at the right time. Alhamdulillah for that!

      So here goes! Enjoy!
